IGNITION COIL 8.9
PREPARE Head mounted ignition coils.
A WARNING 1. Remove head mounted ignition coils.
Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive. a. See Figure 8-27. Disconnect ignition coil connectors
Keep gasoline away from ignition sources which could (1).
result in death or serious injury. See the Safety chapter.

a. Remove seat. See SEAT (Page 3-113). Ignition coil bracket, breather 24.4-29.9 ft-lbs 33.1-40.5 N·m

3. Side mounted ignition coil.
Ignition coil, head mounted 46.9--66.4 in.fbs 5.3-7.5 N·m

a. Remove spark plug cables. See SPARK PLUG
CABLES (Page 8-15). Ignition coil, side mount screw 80.5-99.1 in.fbs 9.1-11.2 N·m
REMOVE Ignition coil bracket.
1. Install Ignition coil bracket.
Side mount ignition coil.
a. See Figure 8-26. Install ignition coil bracket (1).

b. Install breather bolt (7) (if equipped). Tighten

1. Remove EVAP hose (if equipped). Torque: 70.8-88.5 in-lbs (8-10 N·m) Ignition coil

1. Install head mounted ignition coils.
a. See Figure 8-27. Apply electrical contact lubricant
inside of coil insulators (4).
b. Install head mounted coils (2 and 5).
c. Install screws (3). Tighten.
Torque: 46.9-66.4 in-lbs (5.3-7.5 N·m) Ignition coil,
head mounted screw
