8.7 Voltage Regulator

VOLTAGE REGULATOR                                                                                                             8.7
PREPARE                                                                 e.    Install screws (2). Tighten.
                                                                             Torque: 35-62 in-lbs (4-7 N·m) Voltage regulator
1.   Remove main fuse. See POWER DISCONNECT                                   bracket
     (Page 8-4).
                                                                        f.   Clip starter cable (3) to voltage regulator bracket.

2.   Remove skid plate. See SKID PLAT E (Page 3-92).                    g.    Install cable strap (6).

3.   If removing voltage regulator bracket, remove starter         Install voltage regulator
     solenoid. See STARTER SOLENOID (Page 8-7).
                                                                   1.   See Figure 8-22. Install voltage regulator.
REMOVE
                                                                        a.   Connect voltage regulator connector (3).
Remove voltage regulator                                                b.   Connect alternator stator connector (2).
1.   See Figure 8-22. Remove voltage regulator.
                                                                        c.   Position voltage regulator (1).

     a.   Remove screws (4).                                            d.   Install screws (4). Tighten.

     b.   Disconnect alternator stator connector (2).                        Torque: 91-101 in-lbs (10.3-11.4 N·m) Voltage
                                                                              regulator screw
     c.   Disconnect voltage regulator connector (3).

     d.   Remove voltage regulator (1).

Remove voltage regulator bracket

1.   See Figure 8-23. Remove voltage regulator bracket.

     a.   Lift starter cable (3) from voltage regulator bracket
          (4).

     b.   Remove cable strap (6).

     c.   Remove screws (2).

     d.   Slightly lift voltage regulator bracket at tab (1) and
          slightly swing out.                                           1.   Voltage regulator

     e.   Mark wires and lift from clips (7).                           3.   Voltage regulator connector
                                                                        4.   Screw (2)
     f.   Remove voltage regulator bracket from battery tray

INSTALL

Voltage regulator bracket         35-62 in-lbs I 4-7 N·m
Voltage regulator screw           91-101 in-lbsl10.3-11.4 N·m

Install voltage regulator bracket

1.   See Figure 8-23. Install voltage regulator bracket.

     a.   Slide voltage regulator bracket (4) on battery tray
          (5).

     b.    Install wires on clips (7).

     c.    Work wires through bracket opening.

     d.    Hook tab (1) on battery tray bracket.

                                                 1.   Install starter solenoid if removed. See STARTER
                                                      SOLENOID (Page 8-7).

                                                 2.   Install skid plate. See SKID PLATE (Page 3-92).
