CENTER STAND                                                                                                               3.45

REMOVE                                                                      ANTI-SEIZE LUBRICANT (98960-97)

1.   See Figure 3-140. Remove center stand.                            b.   Position center stand (2) in mounting bracket
                                                                            opening.
                      NOTE
Remove bumpers to aid spring removal.                                  c.   Line holes in center stand with mounting bracket
                                                                            holes, slide in center stand pivot pins (3) on both
                                                                            sides of motorcycle.
     a.    Place center stand (2) in retracted position.
                                                                       d.   Install screws (4) on both side of motorcycle. Tighten
     b.    Support center stand.
                                                                            Torque: 40-53 in-lbs (4.5-6 N·m) Center stand pivot
     c.    Remove spring bracket (1) from spring pivot pin (5).             screw

     d.    Remove spring assembly from center stand.                   e.   Apply lubricant to groove of spring pivot pins (5).

     e.    Inspect springs and brackets for damage or wear.
                                                                                        NOTE
     f.    Remove screws (4) on both sides of motorcycle.           Spring hooks must face motorcycle to prevent
                                                                    binding.
     g.    Remove center stand pivot pins (3) on both sides of
           motorcycle.                                                 f.   Install spring bracket (1) on spring pivot pin (5).

     h.    Remove center stand.                                        g.   Retract and support center stand.

2.   See Figure 3-141. Remove center stand mounting                    h.   Install spring assembly bracket on the center stand

                                                                       i.   Install bumpers (3) as needed.
