2.19 Inspect Exhaust System

INSPECT EXHAUST SYSTEM                                                                                            2.19

LEAK CHECK                                                    3.   Correct any detected leaks.
                                                                   a. See EXHAUST SYSTEM (Page 6-37). Disassemble
1.   Check exhaust system for obvious signs of leakage such           exhaust system.

                                                                   b. Clean all mating surfaces.
     a. Check for loose or missing fasteners.
                                                                   c. Repair or replace damaged components.
     b. Check for cracked pipe clamps or brackets.
                                                                   d. Assemble exhaust system.
     c. Check for loose or cracked exhaust shields.
                                                                                         NOTE
2.   Check exhaust system for audible signs of leakage.       If leak continues, disassemble and apply PERMATEX ULTRA
     a. Start engine.                                         COPPER or LOCTITE 5920 FLANGE SEALANT or equivalent
                                                              oxygen sensor/catalyst-safe alternative to mating surfaces.
     b. Cover end of muffler with clean, dry shop towel.
     c. Listen for signs of exhaust leakage.
